Kim-Lock washers have cams on one side. The angle of the cams is greater than the thread angle of the threaded fastener. Two washers are installed face-to-face. During installation, the teeth on the other side of the washer seat against the material surfaces. When subjected to vibration, the interacting cams wedge against one another and rise, attempting to increase the tightness of the assembly and preventing loosening.
Works when other lock washers vibrate loose.
Not affected by lubrication.
Use with Grade 8 and Grade 5 fasteners.
Ideal wherever vibration is a problem: construction equipment, farm equipment, mining, well drilling, railroad equipment, trucking.
